Aromatherapy /Massage It is generally advised that essential oils are for external use only and should not be used neat unless otherwise directed. Instead they should be diluted first in a base/carrier oil such as sweet almond or grapeseed oil. For massage and bath oils a concentration of 2-3% max of essential oil to base oil is generally advised. You can roughly calculate the number of 'drops' of essential oil to add by halving the number of 'mls' of base oil you are using: Eg. 10mls base oil = 5drops essential oil max. NB It is advised that a concentration of 1% or less should be used for children or first time use and that essential oils should not be used at all in pregnancy unless otherwise directed.   Carrier/base oils Essential Oils
